Lope, rough idle= IAC....
As many of you know I've been chasing a lope at idle for quite some time now. Well, today I decided to take one last shot at seeing if it was IAC (which is new as of 4 months ago) or throttle body related. It was. Up to now I had always just used some throttle body cleaner to clean the TB while it was on the car. This includes the area behind the IAC that the pintel (SP?) seats against. Don't waste your time with this method if you have a idle problem and think it may be that the IAC area inside the TB needs cleaning.
I removed the TB today and gave it a good cleaning. I had to scrub the carbon from the inside where the IAC pintel seats with a rag soaked with TB cleaner to get it clean. Spraying it on did not touch it. You can look all you want and not see all the crud in there with the TB on the car. You'll never get all of it! Also take the top plate off and clean inside there to.
I oiled the O ring on the IAC put it all back together and guess what..........I have the best idle the car has ever had since I have owned it.
Moral of all this is.......Do it right the first time!
