Has anyone seen/had this done a Vette yet? I'd like to see some pictures of the finished product. Dunno about the remote thermostat deal. If this has already been posted about, just direct me there. TIA.
I havent seen this on a Corvette yet but on the F body cars as youve seen.
John M.is on the thirdgen.org and can do the work for you for around 200 bucks.
Some of the guys paid 150-300 for a used LT1 intake with the fuel rails and for less then 500 bucks, they had increased HP by nearly 30-40 or so.A larger intake for the L98 costs around 400 or so bucks today, not including runners...and did you see the price of the SR and MR?Over 1,000 dollars to gain what,a few extra ponies unless you have alot of engine mods.
A grand better bring me 100 extra HP!!!
:D
Seriously,
This is Car crafting and HOT RODDING in its truest form.I thought it died with the old carb cars but people found a way with efi over the years.
This mod is much cheaper then the miniram and is a route I would go if I wanted to install a shorter intake and keep the costs down.
Btw,Hey mackey, how is drilling a hole for a distributor, light machine work, and installing coolant passage tubes "too much work" as opposed to your entire car mods?
Your signature shows alot of work done..so whats so different?I bet your car tek package took an hour and was a simple install,eh?
:D
Just playing mackey, but dont see a big deal of work as compared to alot of motor jobs and roll cages.
:)
Hey Scott,
I too have an '85 medium blue coupe.
I am planing a 550hp 421 CID stroker motor for it.
I want to run EFI in it but the price of SR or Mini ram seem too steep.
I was ready to say screw it and slap on a victor Jr and 859 CFM demon carb and tow it to the track on my trailer, but this LT1 intake mod sounds intriguing in a backyard kinda way.
DO you think that I can mount a LT1 intake/efi set up on a big 400 block stroker and run the stock '85 ECM and wiring , harness etc, (custom chip of course) and it would work????
WOW, this could be fun
Evan, I'd pitch the 85 ECM in a hurry with that setup. My 85 ECM can't even figure out how to keep my 350 happy. With the amount of air your car will need, I'd strongly advise going right to a speed density setup. The computers are a dime a dozen on Ebay ($50 MAX) and there are guys that can easily convert your harness (I think John Milican does that too, but I'll find out for sure who the guy is and let you know) for about $100.
