i have a simple question i have a 92 conv i am considering changing the shocks 92k miles how can i tell i have a z51 (power st cooler is there) the shocks are yellow what could i buy shocks for a z51 susp what diff could i find using z51 spec shocks
I'm not quite sure it's the same on yours, but early c4 Z51s had a very tight turning ratio - Z51 steering wheels will only turn 2 - 2 1/4 turns lock to lock. That is the easiest way to tell.
Sorry - RPO Z51 was not available on 92s - it became Z07 in 1991. It was not available on convertibles. Buy the stiffer shocks if you like, but be ready for some ride compromise.
if you dont have z51, then only get the Bilsteins if you want better handling. You might shake a couple fillings loose unless you get them custom valved
I believe the Z51was just suspension and springs, etc... the shocks shouldnt matter much.
I have a Z51 with the FX3 adjustable shocks in mine.. The shocks were shot so i had them yanked out... the FX3 disabled and some Monroe's put in (they suck by the way, The next set will be Bilstien's)... they fit in just fine and work great...
