Default Removing Injectors

I am getting ready to remove the injectors from the 89 that I purchased last week, and have never done a TPI car before. What are the recommended ways of doing it and what type of "short cut" tools, if any, do you use?

This site has some photos that might be helpful although he was removing his intake manifold.

From what I've heard on L98's, there's no easy way about it. You have to remove the plenum and intake runners to access the the injectors on the lower manifold (if that's what it's called).

No need to remove the runners.

Your right you don’t have to remove the runners. However when I did my 87 I found them to be loose from being on the motor all those years after I removed the plenum. I also wanted to replace the lower runner gaskets & clean up my intake & re-torque the runner & intake bolts. I also replaced valve cover gaskets so I removed them also as long as I was doing it, do it all at once. If you do remove the runners take the passenger side off first the bolt on the inside is in front makes it easier to get to drivers side. I was not in a super hurry as I was doing more then just injectors. Cleaned the throttle body & IAC, did throttle body by pass, new thermostat checked ERG valve & switch, changed out vacuum lines. If I would of thought about it at the time, I would of taken off the intake to replace that gasket also. Good Luck
