1994 intake manifold instructions
My manifold is leaking oil on the backside. Was told this normal on these.
Iam going to do it myself, but need help.
The more tips or site help the better.
Tks
1. Dont forget to remove all fuel pressure before disconnecting the fuel lines - you can do this by pulling the fuel pump fuse AND remove the gas filler cap then start the engine - run the car until it dies. (Leave the gas cap off until you are finished, otherwise daytime temperatures may push fuel out of the disconnected lines. ask me how I know...)
2. Get 'quick disconnects' for the fuel lines (about $5 from autozone)
3. Remove the throttle body - dont forget it contains coolant
4. You'll need to break the seal between the intake and the heads - I usually put a piece of 2inch dowel into the intake (where the throttle body bolts up) and then use a shovel handle wedged under the alternator to lever the intake upwards.
5. Clean everything, and when you put the intake back (like the previous poster says), use 'the right stuff' along the front and rear of the intake where it meets the block (called the china walls)
6. Use new gaskets
7. Dont forget to torque the bolts back down in sequence
I'm sure there is a lot of other stuff, mainly unbolting things and bolting them back up again.
Good luck!!
