I sent the computer yesterday morning to Andrew @ akmcables.com and he's putting sockets on BOTH the E & T side chips, as well as burning me a whole new set of chips with my program on them already (so I can have a program that will work if my stupid computer screws up on the upload again).

I should have the computer back Friday or Saturday.. and yes.. I'm going to sleep at the mailbox waiting for it ;)

Andrew got my PCM today and is almost done working on it. He said he's shipping it back to me tomorrow morning and hopefully I will have it on Thursday!
He's also burning my program right to the flash chips with his programmer hooked up to his computer, SO i WILL have a set of chips that will let my car run. I will have 3 sets of chips total, so I can program one set, and POSSIBLY mess it up.. and then attempt to program the other set ... if that one messes up, then I have the stock program still that i sent to him that I can pop in there so I can drive the car. Meanwhile I mail the chips to Andrew and for $2 he reburns what ever program I want on to them and when I get them back I can start experimenting again

woohooo!

you know Glock,

Since you have a socket n the PCM now. you could buy the burning gear and the adapter for the correct pinout for your PROMs and do it your too

I was thinking the same thing.... If I had the adapter, I could burn his chips for him. How much does the adapter cost for an EMP-10 to do those style flash chips?

Yeah, that's an idea. I can tell ya the pin out of the flash chips if you need them to see if your burner would work Craig.

Here's the chip information:

Flash
16166080
AN28F512
E 5012AC
U4290193 (serial # for the one i have in front of me)

it's a 9x7 pin chip

According to the info on that page, the Pocket Programmer can do the 28F512 chip ...

Yes, it will. It says it does the 28F512 chip.
The adapter that Needham's sells for my EMP-10 is $110!!! The adapter XTronics sells for the Pocket Programmer is $60.

I wonder if the XTronics adapter will work on my Needham's EMP-10????

My programmer does support your 28F512 chip. Whichever programmer used will need to have the PLCC to DIP adapter though.

Well if there is not extra components on either one.. the xtronics would work

EDIT= you could also make your own witha socket from each.. just wire it Pin For Pin.. I bet that would work too

Just got an email back from xtronics... their adapter will work on my EMP-10. The price is $79.99

I have an EMP-10 programmer....

I need to program a 28F512 PLCC chip and was wondering if your I-PLCC28-32 adapter would work on my Needham's programmer?

Thanks,
Craig M.

Wooohooo.. just got the tracking number from Andrew.. the PCM will be here tomorrow! :D .. weather is getting pretty bad though :(. If it doesn't get here, then I'll get $27 worth of shipping back .. which I wouldn't mind :D. If the weather gets as bad as they are saying, I won't be able to drive it anyway.
