Service engine light!!!
Hi everyone, I need some help. I have a 95 lt1 6spd and the service engine light keeps coming on . The light only comes on after about a 35 mile trip. I hooked a computer up to the car and it said that the oil temp. unit was bad; so I replaced it and the light still comes on.
So does anybody have any suggestions to what else it could be, to read that code.
Oh yeah. I have a slight oil leak at the distributor. Bad gasket!

Do you have an Factory Service Manual (FSM)?
The great thing about our C4s is that error 'codes' can be determined without any special tools.
The 95s have an OBD II connector with the OBD I software behind it.
The OBD II connector is located below the steering wheel and has two rows of connectors -- numbered 1-8 on top left to right, and 9-16 on bottom, also left to right.
To display the codes on the digital dash, connect a paper clip between # 12 (ccm diagnostic enable) # 4 (Ground).
Then turn on the key (do not start the engine) and read to codes on the digital dash.
Do a search or post back the codes and their sequence and we'll help you..
These guys will be able to help once they have a code to work with.
I have a comment... the oil temp sensor on your car is above the oil filter and not at the back of the intake. If you already know this disregard comment

Hi. Thanks for the help! I had a computer hooked up to the car, but I do not remember the code. But you are saying that I can take a paper clip and put it between #12 and #4? And then just turn the key over not on, and a code will pop up on the info display. Thanks J

The key needs to be turned to on, not start. (engine not running) See link.
They are both history codes. 52 is Oil Temperature Circuit (Low Temperature) and 72 is Gear Selector Switch Fault (Start Lockout). I would clear the codes and see if they come back.
