My '89 has been running great for a while. I drove it today, parked it, when I got back in the car it started right up. When I put it in reverse the car just killed. Now it won't start at all. The motor turns over but nothing else happens; not even a sputter. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

check the fuel pump, if thats ok try the ign control, module, rotor in the dist could have broke also.
Go home and get your timing light, fuel pressure gauge, and a noid light. While cranking check for spark and timing. Next, put the fuel pressure gauge on the shrader valve on the end of the right fuel rail and see if you have 35-42 psi and see if it holds up with the ignition off. Unplug an injector and connect the noid light and see if it pulses during cranking. Engines need spark, fuel, and air to start and run. You are missing one or more.
Im still confused. How and what do you do with it? Sorry for stupid question. Once you tell me it will come back. I recall a few years ago thinking about getting one.

The noid light plugs into the fuel injector harness plugs.
Just unplug injector of your choice, insert proper noid light, crank car over.
If the light flashes the computer is telling the injector to fire and that driver circuit is working correctly.
If it doesn't...well you got problems.
Best to check the basics, I say check for spark and fuel pressure first.
