Newbie here again. The tires on my newly acquired '95 are not in th best of shape. Tread is decent, but they are starting to dry rot. The car is a Z07 so it has 275 40 17 all around. Any advice or recommendations on tires that have a good combination of ride/noise/handling?

Nitto NT-05, BFG KD's, KUMHO ??, GY Eagle GSD-3?,
Quite a few real good tires that compliment your suspension. I would recommend the BFG KD as I am on my second set.
The New Nitto NT-05 is same treadwear etc, but might be cheaper price wise. http://www.nittotire.com/#index.tire.nt05
Please dont do Sumittomos, as a 275/40ZR17 looks, and is about the same size, as a 255. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tir...Selected=97448
Thanks for the feedback all. I have been on tirerack, treadepot, etc. and there are a lot of options. I have purchased numerous times from these sites for my " daily drivers" and have found that price doesn't always dictate quality or resuilts. Thanks for the heads up on the Sumo's. They are certainly an attractive price, but probably a case of you get what you pay for. Anyone have any exeperince with any of the Cooper Zeon's? I put Cooper CS4's on my wifes car last year and have been very happy.
I'm just getting ready to replace a set of the Cooper Zeon's that have been very good tires over the last 5 years. They are not too noisy and have excellent traction on wet roads. I have never experienced hydroplaning with them. They did wear fairly fast but that's not unusual with this type of tire.
I am going to replace them with either the Kumho Ecsta SPT, or the General Exclaim UHP. I just want to try a different tire this time around but I really am nervous about not getting the Cooper's again. I hope I don't regret my decision.
No offense, I know times are tight, but when it comes to shoes for the a ZO7 suspension Vette, put some good shoes on. This isnt a white walled bias plied granny car, it is a world class, for its day, sports car. The Nittos would be great, or a Kumho. Prices are fair.
Just my 2 cents

on how much you want to spend and what you are using the car for.
If you don't want to spend a lot of $ and don't plan on racing the car, the Sumitomos are excellent. I have no complaints about them.
The Kumhos are one notch up, after that you are into big$ for Goodyear, Michelin, etc.
I agree with you that some older Goodyear products were definitely less then stellar. The GSD3, however, is a top performer in every catagory. If you compared the GSD3s and the Vredesteins, head to head, I'm betting the only area where the Vredesteins come out on top would be price.
I have Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals now, and have been very happy with them. I'll either go with them or the Cooper Zeons next time around - good tires for the money.

Wife just put the cooper's on her c5, they are at least as good as the goodyears she took off and at $700 vs $1100 it was a no-brainer.
I just put summito's on my Z07 car, for dry roads and occasional wet track duty they are fine. I'm used to them on the track so I stayed with what I know. Maybe one day I'll try something else.
I used to run Firestone wide ovals. They were the best wet traction tire I have ever owned. I'm now on my second pair of Sumi's. I switched to an 11" rim and 315's on the rear. You can't beat the price for a daily driven car.
The Sumi's are not as skinny as some will have you believe. I'm able to get 1.9 60's with them and even had a 1.8 at the track. For daily driving I would rate them as good or average. I won't blow $250- $300 on a tire to drive me back and forth to work every day when a $100 tire does it just as well. I'd rather put that money toward hp mods. IMO

I would bet on the V's over the G's. GY is all about marketing. V's I will take any day. Firestones are good also.
