Default Fans always on?

I have an 89 coupe auto. I recently started it up and the fan is always on, even with the a/c off. Can anoy give me any ideas on where to start?

I would start by checking for fault codes, some DTC's do not illuminate the SES light but can cause the cooling fan to run whenever the key is on.

Could also be a stuck relay, good luck.

A member here had a similar problem with his '93. He had a faulty low temp sensor I believe. I'm not sure if your '89 has the same set up, but you might want to contact Epimax1 to get the details of his resolution to the problem. He was very helpful to me on a recent lowering project on my '89.

If it is the main fan, or your only fan, it is probably the relay.

Check your AC pressure switch. Located on the AC hardline before the heater box. I knocked mine off accidently replacing some (spark) plugs. Thought my relay was hanging up, 'til I noticed the connector dangling on the passenger's side.
