Once upon a time with 405 rear wheel horsepower the rear end would kick out to the right when shifting from 1st to 2nd. With the plates in place, the car would maintain traction and when shifting from 1st to 2nd would do so in a straight line. This was a worthwhile investment.
Looking for some feedback on c-beam torque plates like is there any real benefit other than easy removal of the bolts
These are well worth the investment. ZF Doc really knows his stuff and is meticulous about his products and service. I have 2 sets of beam plates, 2 short throw setups, and 1 fully built Black label ZF from him with plans for a blue tag ZF. Nothing but the best ... couldn't be more satisifed.
I put them in when I did my clutch. They sure made putting the C-bean back in a snap. I also do believe that the car feels better when you really get on it in the lower gears from a roll and even more so when you do it from a standing start.
I'm very happy with the product and think it was $ well spent. JMHO
I forgot to say that when I bought the plates they were a kit, sort of. It came with a removal tool so you don't break your knuckles taking on the top nuts. Bill lists them as a seperate part, but when I e-mailed to make my order he offered me a reduced price for both. Ya gotta know that Bill is a stand up guy!

Reason: forgot this.
Seriously, these things are great....no more kick out and removal and installation of the c-beam is a breeze....for safety I always apply a bit of lock tight although I'm sure its not necessary.....Do it, you'll be happy

Ed,
Other than obviously making it easier for install/removal of the C-beam, the main thing it does is to increase the surface area loading on the beam and carrier housing pad over what the factory washers do spreading out the load contact to help insure it stays tight and doesn't move or come loose. It's a nice to have item for basic street use but more important for drag racing when launching the car with reasonable horsepower and sticky tires.Keeping that area tight under load with beam plates can help reduce the chance of bolts coming loose which can and will result in you probably breaking the snout off the carrier housing. Not a good thing.

If you can find it with the search engine, you will find a pretty in-depth detailed explanation of the benefit that I found from the c-beam plates. They solved my issues, and I would definitely say they were worthwhile.

Plates are ordered, I spoke with Bill the other day and your right he is a stand up guy, he gave me some good insight about the
C-beam plates and answered some other questions about an on going vibration problem I've had for years.
