Serpentine Belt

I can't get my serpentine belt back on my 87. Do I need to buy that tool in the mags.? Any Suggestions?

Use a 1/2" drive ratchet and stick it in the tensioner, push down and slip the belt on. No special tool needed. You could use something else to push it down if you wanted.

AutoZone will also rent the serp belt tool at no charge. You pay a deposit, use the tool, then returnit and get your money back.

A 1/2" drive breaker bar also works and it will be longer than a ratchet, The longer bar will provide more leverage.

I use a 1/2" breaker bar. A ratchet won't fit between the cross member on my car. Use a short cheater if you need more leverage.
