Interior Lights Not Working Correctly
I am a newbie to the group and hope someone can help me with a weird problem I am having with the interior lights of my '94 corvette.
The mirror/map lights, door lights, and foot well lights do not come on when it is dark out and a door is opened.
I walked up to the car last night, the drivers door unlocks and the cargo lights come one, but the mirror/map lights, door lights, and foot well lights don't light. I got in, closed the door, started the engine, and the cargo lights went out. I tried opening the passenger door and only the cargo lights come on. I close the door and the cargo lights go out.
Additional information:
It was dark out.
I checked all illumination fuses and they look good.
The PKE is working correctly: I walk up and the drivers door unlocks. I walk away, the door locks, and the horn honks.
The amber lights on the doors and mirror work when the parking/headlight are turned on.
The switch on the mirror WILL turn the mirror/map lights on.
Both door switches work because the cargo lights come on and go off.
The interior light switch only turns on the cargo lights.
I was into both door panels today and was unlocking and locking the
doors with the key in the ON position. Is there some kind of lock/
unlock sequence that programs the lights? Maybe I changed a setting?
And as stated above, it's located at the passenger side, real PITA to get to. After you have removed the kick panel, you still have to crawl on your back all the way as far front as you can and then the fuse box will be right over your forehead. Good luck!
Here is a view from a different angle, check the colours at bunch of wires in both pictures, and you'll know, where the fuse box is.
Thank you very much for the pics because I thought I was loosing my mind. I can not find a fuse box under the kick panel. There is an empty space where the fuse box is in your picture.
Well.....I just found the problem: It was a fuse in the fuse box. I was looking for a 5 amp fuse and looked right over it because a previous owner had replaced it with a 10 amp fuse.
Thank you very much for your help.......
The good news is all was not lost in gaining access to the kick panel. There has been a rattle in there that has been driving me nuts for a few weeks: One of the wire harnesses came loose and was tapping the inside of the kick panel.
