Default Roller Lifters?

I read on a C4 information site that all 87 and up c4s came standered with roller lifters. Is this true?

I believe the only difference in the motor's are the roller lifters & aluminum heads.

The 85 block will not accept an OEM roller cam. Two reasons:First flat tappet cam lifters are ground to keep the cam pushed toward the rear of the block. Roller has a cam retainer plate that does this. Nose of a roller cam is stepped to fit the plate. Second the roller lifters are held in position by retainers and a hold down piece called a spider.Keeps them from rotating as the cam turns. Several cam companies make a retro-fit cam/lifter kits for non roller blocks but they are very pricey.

Thank you for that info...sigh...one of these days...it's looking more and more like the easiest way to go is an engine swap for a build up...I was hoping to be able to do things reasonably priced on step at a time...
