Default Fuel Pump Help Needed.

I tried the search but couldn't find what I was looking for so I need some help on changing out the pump.

I do have an FSM someplace in a box, but since I have just moved and still unpacking boxes I haven't located it yet.

The car made the trip from Missouri to the DFW area and ran beautifully. Parked it in front of my buddies house and the next morning when I went to drive it it started and ran for maybe 15 seconds. It turns over just fine, but will not start.

Did the turn the key and there is no sound from the pump. Looked in the fuse panel and didn't see a fuse. Is is someplace besides the panel on the side of the dash? Also where is the fuel pump relay located?

I know the pump comes out the filler area and fairly sure I can figure that part out. Are there any tips I should know about before I start on this.

Thanks in advance.

Jon

I'm pretty sure there is a fuse, you may want to look again. You are correct about changing out the pump. Pretty straightforward. I always suggest cleaning the area real well with the cap on, before removing the pump. Don't want any trash falling in the opening. Also get a new filter sock when you get the pump.

The FP Relay is located to the right of the brake MC behind the OD relay.
The FP Fuse is located in the main fuse block assy, on bottom right near the column of breakers.
You can power the FP directly by connecting +12Vdc to ALDL pin G, lower left pin.

When you buy the FP be sure that a new filter sock is included in the box.
Use care when removing/inserting the FP assy so as to not damage the fuel level float assy.

Got the sock when I got the pump. I think I will just disconnect the battery to make sure I don't screw anything up. Working with electric and gas in the same location scares the crap out of me.

Thanks for the help.
