Default Adjusting Windshield Wipers

I have a problem with my wipers, when turned on they hit the black molding and i've lost a few blades that way. They also dont rest underneath the hood. I tried adjusting them using this guide...

still no luck. This is even after replacing the motor, linkage, and arms.

I've noticed this too in my 85 just the other day. My car was dusty dirty and stopped at the quarter car wash and this is when I noticed it. I've had the car for 5 years and never had it out in the rain. Anyway, this problem doesn't affect me.

Maybe try trimming down the length of the rubber and the tip of the blade? Buy a couple new blades with the rubber wipers and experiment on them.

I used the same guide, straight from the FSM. But if you dont use factory blades and arms yo may have problems. Trico Exact fit and factory are thin blades and fit under the hood area no problem. Some aftermarket ones, ANCO (Wal Mart) etc are too thick.
