I have my '87 700R4 Trans and two days ago started making clunking sound and waits to shift from 1st till about 2700 rpms and same from 3-4. Took it to a trusted transmission place and said I chipped some teeth on my reverse gear and things are bouncing around and I need a complete rebuild (I agree).
Thing is it's going to cost 1200 total for everything new.
I'm re-doing the interior so could I switch to a manual since I'm having to start new anyway???? How hard would that be? and $$$ wise. All the interior is out of the car so everything is exposed...
or would it just be better to go ahead with the rebuild and be done with it...
