Default Vette Tech Tri-Y header update

Last winter I installed my headers along with 1.6 RR W/springs.Rather than go to a Dyno I thought it would be fun the go to the track. It was the first time at the track for me so I did'nt do so good but the vette did.I made three runs my best time was 13.394 weight 3350 =276 HP.I'm thinking 36 hp gain,20 for headers 16 for RR??? Sorry for the wrong data in the original thread I see the errors,to many sleepless nights.

I installed the same headers this past Christmas, and the one thing I am happy with is the sound. Can't really comment on power, as it took a while to get everything clearanced so I could push it.

However, looking back I would NOT do it again. The fitment issues I had are completely inexcusable for a production exhaust header. I just hope it all becomes worth it once I put it on a dyno...

I put magnaflows on for a better sound. My headers had to go back for the "fix" and after that it took a BFH to install, but over all I'm happy.

Yes, your real time is 13.394. You don't subtract the R/T. What was your MPH?

Well always post the year of the car, any other details help too like auto trans and gear ratio. Sometimes the track and temp are nice to know. Other mods?

Thanks for sharing. It's nice to know everyone is happy with their results after all the fist pounding is done. (That's why I decided to keep mine + I'm convinced the Tri-Y design is a good one. Just not sure if Dassani's aren't a better way to go!

BTW: Did you install or have them installed? How much of a PITA were they for you?

Most everything is documented in 2 threads about them. The main problem areas:

-#8 tube hits the evaporator housing. Has to be flattened pretty substantially to clear and provide some heat buffer.
-#2 tube gets REALLY close to the upper control arm. For stock camber settings it's ok, but has to be banged in to dial in more than about 0.5* negative camber, depending on the car.
-The passenger collector hits the heat shield on the passenger foot well. I solved this by just removing the heat shield and putting some aluminum tape on the footwell.

Other things I had to do:
-#3 tube bent forward immediately from the head, not giving enough room to stick a bolt in the hole. So, I had to flatten the tube where it attaches to the head.
-I hooked it up to a Corsa exhaust, with cats. Basically, the shop I had attach the two had to cut the Corsa off just in front of the H-pipe and put the 2 cats at a pretty extreme angle connecting the headers to the Corsa. It can't be good for performance, but without eliminating the H-pipe from the Corsa, it's the only way to have cats.

I guess I was lucky with my install, the only issue I had was the #8 tube.I hope Brian deals with this.Bottom line I would buy them again.

Never bought a set of headers that did anything that did not need some minor banging.

We don't get a lot of choices in performance headers, this is most likely the reason. Tough fit.
