Default The heads are here. Yay

The Easter Bunny was late, but it was worth the wait. Look what UPS brought me today.

Let me say the heads are beautiful, I can see why the they flow like they do. A nice set on instructions/info is included. And the packing they're shipped in is great, I'll save it to ship my 113's in when I sell them. I won't say what I paid for them, but let's say it wasn't much more than it would have cost to have the 113's worked over.

You'll think I'm nuts, but they're going on a 350 with LTR intake (flame suit on). I've been talking with Jim and before deciding on these I gave him all my specifics which he forwarded to Tony and they looked over them and decided the 195's would be OK.
They might be a little much, but it'll give me something to grow into when I step up to a 383.
I was originally going to go with the 180's, but my Accel base has been heavily ported and matches the Felpro 1205 which is perfect with the 195 heads but would have caused a step down and created turbulance with the 180's.

I'm really interested in what you paid and who you got them through.

Street, which I imagine will be more than adequate for my application.

Have they fixed the oil drain issue yet or was that just on the LT1 block? I know they said they were working on it.

LT1 issue. I dry fit the heads on my block last night and didn't see any issue.

Im running the same heads, also on a 350. I went miniram though.

I think you are going to be happy with them.

The AFR LT1 head partially blocks one of the oil drain holes.

Dry fitting the heads on the L98 the lip on the block is just barely visable when looking through drain back hole in the head. So I guess technically it does block the the oil drain back, but it is so minute I can't see it being an issue, certainly not worth grinding on assembled short block in my case anyway.

Nice Dane! Based on your comment about price, I'm going to guess you left them at 65cc?

What cam are you planning? And what runners are on your TPI?

Actually the picture is *after* the initial clearancing on my block. Before clearancing, the drainback is completely blocked on an LT1/4.

Yes, I left them at 65cc. I hated to take brand new heads and have them milled. I don't actually understand why AFR can make the LT1 and LT4 heads with a 55cc chamber but the smallest offered for the a GEN 1 SBC is 65cc?! I am going to be using a .028 headgasket as opposed to the stock .051 which makes up for almost 5cc of the difference so with this gasket I only loose about a quarter point of compression but the upside is it'll tighten up my quench area.

Runners are heavily ported SLPs saimesed almost halfway with the bottom holes opened up to over 1.8". With a matching plenum and heavily ported True Accel base.
Here's some pics before final cleanup.

As far as cam, I've got an LT4 hotcam. I know it doesn't sound like the best cam for my setup, and it probably isn't, but if you actually look at the Hot cam specs it has an optimum operating range of 1800-5800, which I figuring with the intake I should pull close to 5500 which is right in line with that. Duration is fairly mild the 112 LSA is right about what is suggested and I'll be running 1.5 intake rockers and 1.6 on the exhaust which will give me lift numbers of .492 intake (heads flow 274cfm at .500 so I figure this lift should bejust about right) .525 exhaust which will make up for the fact that general concensus seems to be LTR intake set ups favor more lift on the exhaust side. Besides I got the cam NEW from a friend CHEAP.

Exhaust is Hooker 2151 ceramic coated in to a Hybrid setup
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...-together.html

Rest of the drivetrain is ZF6 with a new Aluminum flywheel and stage 2 clutch in D44 with 3.45s

Sorry for running on.

If that's the after I should be safe, I'd say that's real close to what I've got with no work done.

Thanks for the pic.

No issues on your oil drainback, dont worry about it.That front hole doest do much anyway.
Your car should run strong.
