smog pump removel?
I am back up and running after my move to South Florida...... I have a question on the pump removel and all the other crap that goes along with it. Now that I live here there are no more emission's here anymore....So I want to clean all the crap out of there and get it to look nice and neat and also dump the cat and precats. Can I just remove the pump and get a smaller belt and what else do I need to do and what else can I get rid of under the hood and whats the best way to seal where I remove the tubes off the manifolds??????
Any and all help would be great.....
Thanks
Pete
You can just remove the lines, as for the air pump you have two options, no actually three.
1. Just take the lines off and plug the exit hole with a pipe plug.
2. You can take the lines off and knock the fins out of the inside carefully, i did this. Till I changed to my new setup.
3. You can build/buy a elimination kit for ~150 bucks.
I believe the 89s adn 88s are the same. Earlier models you could reroute the belt with a smaller one. Ours unfortunetly you need that kit or the pump there to keep the belt from rubbing against things.
I recommend doing a search...you will find many things on the subject. I still have not set any codes, even with all the EGR crap eliminated.
As for the manifolds, just unscrew the tubes and find a pipe cap fitting that will match and screw it on there.
Good luck.
thanks for the input. Where is the EGR on our cars, and what all do I have to do to remove all that is conected to and with all that smog crap.... What setup did you do on yours? Figures, we would have to still use something, instead of just getting a smaller belt...
Thanks again Ski.......
I need to update my picture in my signature......
