My 88 coupe hits a bump last nite and the hatch popped open by itself.. Looks like my mechanism broke in pieces..a piece is stuck in the bottom latch..some kinda stub left screwed and attached to the glass..oh lordy, here we go... Now I'm stuck with the glass up and an unhooked battery.. now what ??? ..
Anyone had this happen and what's the best source for a quick latch replacement piece??
BTW This is my first post, kinda embarassing way to start meeting the gang, but I guess ya gotta start somewhere.
Ok once I quit freakin' out I'll post and introduce myself on the intro thread and spill the beans on my recently acquired little red driver..
Take off the black plastic trim. You will find a plunger switch for the lights. Unplug that so you can hook the battery up.You should be able to get the remains of the catch out of the lock, unbolt the rest from the glass and get that welded together.
