you could always relocate your filter like i did to an easier place, and that gives you more options like 2 filters, extra sensors and stuff like that.

By the way I like the Pit idea
Anyone use the KwikLift? It looks like a safer alternative to jackstands. Any pros or cons with KwikLift?

Thanks
I dont know what kind of ramps you guys are using, mine have rubber feet on the bottom of them and they dont move at all.

You guys have it easy!! I have the Greenwood kit. Just to get a jack under my car i have to run it up on two 2x6's. Makes it a PITA to do anything under the car, but I manage..

For most work I just squeeze underneath the car, but for changing the oil I have to jack it up. If your old and sore, you can jack the whole front end high enough and use a low creep to roll yourself under there. Makes it a lot easier.

Little late on the discussion, but you do have options that work very well in all types of conditions.

Another Option, and you can share this with friends.

This looks like a great idea!! i have been trying to figure out how to get my newly aquired C4 off the ground. My floor jack wont roll under it far enough to be able to find a solid jack point.

Takes about 20 - 30 min depending on if the oil is cold or warm.
I do the wive's 04 the same way.
No jack stands?

No way I'm crawling under a car unless its on jack stands or ramps.

There are triangular spots behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels to jack up on. Thats where I jack mine up from and place jack stands under the crossmember and a stack of 2x6s under the wheels.

I reverse onto my ramps, set the park brake, jack the front up and put jack stands under the front.

I use two oak boards 3 inches thick, 12 inches wide and four feet long. I used a chainsaw to carve slots on two solid oak logs that are 2 feet in diameter. The boards fit into the slots of the logs that stand vertically about 1.5 feet high. I can't use the auto parts store ramps because my driveway is gravel. I also put bricks and concrete blocks under the boards as an extra measure of security.

I did the same thing except I used 2X10's and layered them five high. I beveled the edges where the tire first rolls onto each layer so the tire rolls on them easily. They are very secure and very sturdy.

These are sweet! But would never pay that for them.

You trust your car up on jacks over ramps or stands??

That's a helluva risk. any jack can (and will at some point) fail and spill it's guts dropping the car. Hope that doesn't happen, but think about it.
