I'm pretty much stock with the exception of a custom 3" aluminum intake.

Ok, for first off try these measures:
-remove the "frisbee" disk from the front of the WP pulley (details on my site)
-open up the air filter lid with either a new stock filter or a K&N
-install a 160deg T-stat and manual fan switch
-install cut-back stock style spark plugs (details on my site)
-remove the spare & jack to lose ~50lbs
-install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (AFPR) so you can bump pressure to add fuel as you increase air flow.

Then look to the exhaust system. I recommend LT headers, true duals with dual hi-flow cats and hi-flow mufflers. Here 2 1/2" pipes should suffice but 3" is ok too.

You can increase hi rpm breathing cheaply and (relatively) easily with the siamese base mod (on my site).

If you are going "inside", install a nice cam (I like the ZZ-9) and work the heads with a good 3 or 5 angle valve job, larger valves, some porting and RRs.

I'm about to jump on your site right now...

I guess I'll go into what is done to the car:
  • 160 Tstat
  • Custom Cold Air Intake routed to the headlight area
  • AFPR
  • Upgraded Plugs/Wires
  • Airfoil (it came in the package)
  • Racetronix fuel pump and harness
  • No AIR, AC
  • Frisbee removed
  • Upgraded Water Pump
  • Spare delete
  • 2002 z06 Wheels with Drag Radials

It just feels stock to me.

Exhaust will be the first mod cause right now the car is too quiet.

I got into the 12.9's with my my factory 1986 iron head tpi with headers, adj fpr, a cut lid/k&n and some drag radials with a 307 d36 - if you can cut a 1.7x 60' time you'll be in the 12's

with a 150 shot it went 11.7's

I ran the car once at the track and ran 14.685@96.10 with a 2.213 60'. This was before all of the mods. I'm gonna try and get to the track this weekend before the modding starts.

Here are the planned mods:
  • Mega Ported Pllenum
  • Mega Ported SLP Runners
  • Edelbrock Base, ported
  • AFPR
  • 3" Intake
  • UD Pulleys
  • Drag Radials

Is this going to be enough?

I'd suggest try the drag radials and see if you can get your 60' time down, between that and the other mods you should be able to get in the high twelves if you have your driving down.

I don't see the exhaust mods listed you originally had posted about. Have you already installed the headers and duals, it has been 3 weeks since you posted in this thread.

I purchased the intake parts first and I want to see if that gets me there. I've been getting busy with work and the headers and exhaust got put on hold.

Currently the car only has a custom intake done by my shop. It helped improve the throttle response and opened up the breathing on the top end.

Here is a list of what I have planned:
  • Hooker Headers
  • Custom 3" exhaust
  • LT4 Hotcam
  • 1.6 rr

And that's as much as I have. I have one rule for this build, it must remain TPI or TPI like. I bought the car for the look of the manifold and it's not going anywhere.

So is the list of potential parts a good start? What should I add? What should I change. I would like to run a 12.999, no specific HP numbers needed.

Thanks.
I recommend you hit the track at Etown right there in New Jersey on June 9th.... it looks like that is when the next East Coast Corvette Challenge is. (see the link below)

While their, I would recommend talking to either Ralph and/or Vic who I think both typically race that event. Both of these had or still have naturally aspirated 350 C4's that skipped the 12's and ran well into the 11's. I am sure they would be happy to offer some advise.

As a note, when you get to the track, virtually every car you see running fast, will not be running a TPI intake. I know you're set on it and thats fine.....but understand, the only people impressed by the TPI intake are people who do not know what they are looking at.

Good luck with whatever you decide on !

I do not have any personal experience with those pro-comp heads, but the engine builders and cylinder head porters that have worked with them are giving them very, very unfavorable reviews...... just food for thought.

Yeap, I guess so too.

I know some of the castings were just thrown in the garbage by the customer. They didn't make power, plus to get the valvetrain geometry working, would have spend a day and half modifying them....or so I read. I personally do not have anything to beat on them about, I've never owned or even seen a set.

If you go to the speed forums and do a search, there is more information available for whoever might be interested.

btw, here is a test using the pro-comp cylinder heads by some boat guys..... they appear to be pissed off. I guess they were not a happy with their purchase.

I'm dead set on the TPI look, for now.

I've got a 406 sitting in the garage waiting for a more aggressive intake system when I max out the L98.

If I need a LT4 set up and 383 to crack the 12's I'm screwed.

Stallion, you can get the TPI in the 12s. Vic did it before he went to the MR. And Ken Rammer (great guy) has the TPI on he car now and that's in the 12s. There are a few guys a the ECCC that have a lot of knowledge of the L98. Most of the time my son is there watching the ECCC, ask him to let you look at the car. It's an 86 with welds on it. I raced in the ECCC for the last 3 years. And just move to Texas last December. And left the car with my son. I lived in Piscataway when I was in Jersey, and thinking about moving back.
