Default blown motor???

I'm having loud noise from the motor or trans area. I'm almost positive its the lower end of the motor. But wouldn't i have no oil pressure, and higher oil and coolant temps?????? i think its the main bairings.....but i figured the gauges would be telling me something?????

Default Lower engine/trans noise

If you have a manual gear box, a bad pilot bearing (in the back of the crank to support the nose of the trans input gear) can make a noise much like a bad engine bearing.
If you have an automatic, a cracked splice plate can make a similar racket.

What is the noise? Is it a significant knock, especially audible during acceleration around 2000-2500 rpm? If this describes it, you could have a spun bearing. My experience was no loss of oil pressure, no excess heat, no SES light. Just the noise which was almost non exsistant at idle. But accelerating, the sound is significant and sounds really expensive.

Drain the oil and check for debris with respect to the main bearings, or
bottom end damage.

you nailed it with the 2000-2500 rpm issue. its been like that for a while. Now it got louder so im sure something is jacked up now i have never had a blower app and thought the pressure from that might have been masking the big picture. oh well.......i guess its time to pull the motor eh?...lol to bad they cant drop the pan and replace it......or can they????....lol

A spun bearing noise sounds exactly like hitting your knuckles firmly on a metal table. It increases at exactly the same rate as rpm's, and gets louder as rpms increase.

Now there have been some other things mentioned that can sound like a spun bearing. Though I've never actually heard what it sounds like when the fly wheel goes bad, I've read where it makes a knock. Sometimes an exhaust leak can make a similar noise. However the exhaust leak will tend to lessen once at a given rpm (At least mine did). I don't know about the flywheel, but I think it can be checked without removing much of anything, maybe someone here knows that trick. But, if it's a bearing the knock is loud and clear. Once you've heard it, you will never mistake it for anything else. The best thing to do, is to put a mechanics stethescope on the oil pan and gently bring the rpms up to where you begin to hear it.

yeah i just recently had to get a new fly wheel due to it cracking in 3 places. and it was under a month old. I was told it might have been a fluke or i had problems with the crank moving..... I replaced the flywheel with " The Wheel" by JT or JW performance. By the way that is a crazy piece! so yeah now looking to get it rebuilt. lt4's are internally balanced right????

If the sound changes while the clutch is disengaged its probably the pilot or throwout bearing. but rod or main bearing noise is pretty easy to point out and much loader.

you would lose serious power with a spun bearing

If it's a tinny sound it's the dust cover

Need to pin down where the noise is coming from.
