trust me it's WAY to loud, I don't care who you are. Elims are great if you keep your cats, but if you remove them / gut them / or install headers it'll be too loud. Another option would be just to install some cut outs, put them right before the mufflers. It will sound exactly like eliminators when open, quiet as stock when closed. Then if you gut the cats you can hear it both ways. You can have open, completely free flowing for the track, or only slight louder than stock when you don't want to attract every police officer in a 20 mile range.

Just remember to turn the volume up REAL LOUD on your computer speakers!!!!
I have elims. they make it sound like a late 60s big block with mufflers.
Yeah, I pulled into Sonic tonight .. and just my luck .. i park next to an unmarked squad car. Black tinted windows, antenna's out the butt, Impala, lights inside, etc.. I turned the car off quickly when I got into the spot, and when I left i tried to touch the gas VERY lightly.
Flowmaster 40's are NOT quiet! I set off car alarms EVERYWHERE. I need to get some new mufflers :(
If you want to hear some muffler eliminators with cats but straight throughs back click on my burnout link below. They are pretty quiet if you keep your foot out of it, they are plenty looud with the cats on..

What's he gonna do man? You have mufflers, and you have cats. You're completely legal. BlueDemon got a thumbs up from a Police Officer when he was running open headers ;)
I love my elims :D :D :D Sounds like a vette should sound. They really aren't that loud unless you really get on it. They are a lot deeper and meaner sounding than my flowmasters were.

I had a 90 vette (coupe) in which I eliminated the mufflers and kept the cat. It was absolutely awesome! Especially whenever I started it up in a parking garage :yesnod: w-a-a-a-y cool!
I may do the same with my 89 vette convertible. Does anyone have experience with doing this on a convertible? It just seems like summer driving with the top down could be difficult to enjoy.
Perhaps I should explain... my 90 vette had a device on the hatchback that left it open about an inch. At about 75 MPH the exhaust note made it impossible to listen to the radio. While I totally enjoyed the exhaust note, it did make it frustrating that I had to drive slow to listen to the radio.. or leave the hatchback closed.
It seems like I remember a cut-out device that drag racers used for their daily driver/weekend racer cars. Does anyone make such a device for the vette?
Now I have long tubes and no cats or resonators(straight pipes). I love the sound, but I'm guessing not many others would. At idle they aren't even noticable, and half throttle they sound like my elims at WOT, but at WOT they are so loud it sounds like thunder is rolling through. I just went to the track today and people are amazed at how loud they were.
If you want loud get elims, if you want very very loud get cats & resonators removed.
I love em. Look at mine....2.5inch pipes(true duals), no precats, no main cat, shorty headers and muffler elims. It sounds......well, unique ;)
Its easily bearable during normal driving but at wot, well, it gets attention.
hey guys maybe im a bit confused but are muffler eliminators for the vett the smae thing as having straight pipes run back from your cat? or is it something different? also how do people like the sound of glasspacks or cherrybombs compared to either muffler eliminators of flowmasters or borla or corsa?
