Default Engine question

Hey guys!

It's been a while since I posted in here and I have a question. I used to have a 1992 vette, but had to sell it to pay off some bills. I still have an engine I built for it, but wanted to know if i had to get a 1992 or 1993 specifically since I had originally built the engine to go into a '92 or '93. Could I get the engine to run in any late model C4? Thanks people!

It should go in any 92-94 easy and 95-96 with a slight mod to the timing chain cover and opti-spark.

R/Noland

Anything eariler than a 92 is going to be slightly more challenging to accomplish but do-able!

Thanks for the input! What mods would have to be done to get it into a 95-96? I have a vented MSD opti on it right now.

I wouldn't put it in anything earlier than 92 anyway...

OK,
So, if your going to put this motor in a 95, you can use a 95 or 96 timing chain cover, if your going to use this motor in a 96, AND You need to use the CPS (Crank Position Sensor) then you'll need a 96 timing chain cover.

The Opti spark's are broken down into the early and late model units. The 92-94 and 95-96. If you change out the timing chain cover, you'll need to use the respective Opti, now saying you have a vented Opti leads me to believe that you have a later model Opti but not sure if it's the 95-96 or the later 94 version. Either way, just change out and use the timing chain cover and Opti for your application, the other little differences shouldn't really matter, such as injector size, LT-1 vs LT4, ect......

Thanks again for the input! I think I'll stick with a 92 - 93 model. I don't feel like pulling the crank hub off again. I had to bring the shortblock over to an engine builder to have it installed. I don't feel like doing that again especially while the engine is fully built...

Thanks again!

Actually, you can use a 92-94 opti in a 95-96. You just have use a 92-94 connector and splice it into the 95-96 wiring.

And vice versa, just remember that the Opti and Timing Chain cover are linked to each other, and with enough time and money almost ANYTHING can be done!
