Default forged or cast crank?

i am going to rebuild my lt1. i decided against a stroker due to money. im not sure what my plans are for the future but i have a nx 100 shot of nitrous system, so im definately getting forged pistons, but i dont know if ill be coming out ahead to get the cast crank as it is an awefully lot of extra money for me. any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I priced rotating assemblies a 383 was the same cost as a 350

These days 350's aren't any more money than doing a 383, especially if you need pistons. There are 383 cranks out there for under $200. And a low budget external balance motor wouldn't be any more than a 350. And a Cast steel crank is stronger than most people think.

The only additional machine work is notching the pan rails, and enlarging the factory notch at the bottom of the bore.
Bigger heads are not a requirement of a stroke, but most get roped into the "while I am there" frame of mind. My machinest charges $75 for this (notching) service.

If your stock crank is still in good shape, get it polished and reuse it. Buy a nice set of forged pistons and rods, and you'll be good to go.

cast crank will probably handle what your looking to throw at it. I wouldnt reuse the stock one though unless you dont plan on modding anything else (its a DD kinda thing).
