Simple but important question...1988 L98 roller cam...the dots on the gears; do you line them up (6 and 12 o'clock) or do you set them both at 12:00? Thanks in advance!!
Does not matter. 6 and 12 has cylinder 6 ready to fire, ( valves closed ), 12 and 12 has cylinder 1 ready to fire.

Both ways are correct. But I'd never to a high performance cam install with out degreeing the cam (I learned this the hard expensive way a long while back)
I do the dot to dot mostly due to habit since the old harleys and other small engines I grew up wrenching on as a kid always seemed to have numerous timing marks on numerous gears to line up mark to mark .
