Question is...Do I also need to change out cam, timing chain etc? Or will this suffice? My car has a severe hesitation under load towards the higher RPM range. It will not shift out. I have to let of the gas slightly to allow it to shift, than floor it again until I get to the top range of the next gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not to sure if I understand.
Are you just changing the intake? or completely wanting to go with a carb setup because your having a problem? which may or may not solve your hesitation problem.
I would first solve your problem then look at the changing the intake setup if your wanting to do that.
Just a quick thought, have you looked at the adjustment of your tv cable?
I am wanting to get rid of the whole crossfire set up. The cable set up is ok, I took it to a local vette shop here and he verified that the cables and everything as far as he could check without getting into the engine was fine. He had a few suggestions, and he is not a fan of the crossfire system. 1 suggestion was the whole carb, intake replacement.

The crossfire set up is a very good system as long as you know how to tune it correctly, all the guys that bash it don't understand it, thats why I take pride in passing them
if your having a hesitation I'd look into your fuel pump, also try raising your fuel pressure up to 15psi
Believe it or not the CFI is one of the most reliable systems out there. Most that don't understand it ALWAYS make the suggestion to go carb. They seem to think its better, not necessarily.
I'm not a fan of just bumping up the fuel pressure, it may hide the actual problem. Crossfire's like between 9-13 psi.
Typically most hesitation are due to two things, 1- spark 2- fuel.
First thing I would do is put a pressure gauge between the tb's and see what the pressure is at idle and then under load. That should help you determine if its a fuel problem. In some cases you can just tape the pressure gauge to the outside of the winshield and take it for a ride. See what that pressure is when you start to have the problem.
Spark plugs? wire's? fuel filter? Has anything been replaced?
They're not hard to work on, just need a bit of patienance and before you know it you'll understand how it works and realize just how reliable it can be.
I have replaced the wires, plugs and filter. I will try testing the fuel pressure next. I dont think that has been tried yet. I bought an injector rebuild kit also. Have not done that yet either. My only question there is, why would it hesitate to shift out under load? Thanks.
