On the transmission, driver's side. Pretty far up there. Very hard to get to. After fooling around for 2 hours with the tools I had, I finally broke down and bought a deep-offset box wrench from Sears, and had it off in 5 minutes.

Yes, I had the same problem recently. An offset wrench, some tedious work with your fingers, and lots of cursing will get the job done.

Strangest thing - decided to check the fuse again - not blown visually.
So, for the hell of it exchanged back-up fuse w/ fuse for horn, also 15 amp.
Well, back up lights light up! So I figure horn will not blow, right? Wrong, horn works too!
Electricity works in mysterious ways...

When I replaced my window regulators the driver's mirror motors started working again 
I did the backup light switch last time I did my clutch, looks like I'll be doing it again when I replace my engine.
