84 vette STEREO ISSUES

Hello all,

I am tryig to figure out what is wrong with my stock stereo cd player,
The two rear speakers work fine, The front ones come on only if I turn the volume way up, If the volume is low the front speakers do not work... Any ideas where to start with this one? Im thinking maybe front amps are bad, But don't want to get them if thats not it..
