Default oil pressure

Just a follow up for those who have added their input on "oil". I put the mechanically gauge on my new motor today and found out my sending unit was reading a bit high. I was getting 9 lbs. and with the mechanical I get 7 lbs. at an idle. It did do down to 4 lbs. so I shut it off. Boy am I pissed and on Monday this rebuilder and I are going to have a few f**** words. The interesting part is after I put the original sending unit back in I get double of what I had originally, at an idle when cold 80 lbs., which means this rebuilder is going to fix whatever (broken wires) I just messed up as well.

thx all for your help

joe

Eek .. that's not good. I think I'm going to go get a new sending unit tomorrow and see if that changes my oil pressure readings.

Good thing ya turned it off at 4psi .. that's toooo low. 10psi per 1000rpm is the MINIMUM.

 Might not be the builder's fault, but then again it might. You might not want to get too mad right off the bad. It could be a faulty lifter-not his fault, or an incorrectly installed bearing-his fault. Or a few other things.

Good luck!
