definitely take it back to the dealer and make them fix it. I would say your opti is the culprit, BUT your year opti should be vented so maybe not? I had the same issues you had. I had a new OEM non vented opti replaced on my 93 a few years back which cost me $350 for the unit new. I got maybe 350 miles before it crapped out!!!!!!! Since then, I now have a vented MSD unit. For anyone looking to replace their opti, GO MSD!!!!!!!!

watch that ECM as well, might be worth it to dismantle it and inspect the circuits and chips, it was dipped in a rubberized coating. Mine fried a chip and cooked that coating, making it look like dried sap. It was dry and crumbled easily.

When mine started going it would idle oddly a few seconds, and then run fine, soon it began stalling without warning, then on restart it would rev/surge, idle erratically and then stall again.

Soon it was near impossible to start, and would engage the injectors/starter with the key in the run only position, as well as cycling the air pump...

He elected to take his car to the dealer for repairs which is fine and his prerogative. If there is a problem he should not have to fix his own car. I’ll bet he spent near $2000 for an opti and a pump. And if it is the opti, then what’s he going to do.

They should handle the whole thing and resolve the problem. Always act professional but be firm.
You don't want to wait too long to get it back to the dealer. The more time that goes by, the more ammo the dealer will have to blame something else, and not their work. In short order, you can clear the codes by removing the neg, battery terminal for 20 seconds and reconnecting. Then do the paper clip deal to ensure all codes are cleared. Take her out for a nice drive, and re-check for codes.

I wonder how familiar with C4's the technician is that worked on your car?

Another quick check you can do is verify that they seated the coil wire firmly to both the coil and Opti. It is also easy(on the passenger side anyway), to reach down and make sure the 4 plug wires are snuggly seated to the Opti.

But get it back to the dealer ASAP. Especially considering you DID NOT have this issue before.
