I have been a lurker for a long time here and the other site and an avid mid year C3 owner of a few Vettes!! But now that i have a newly aquired 89 C4 i have found that i have the need to register due to the authority and knowlwdge base level here is going to be a necessity owning a C4.

I have a project on my hands and looks like i am going to be needing plenty of you guys superior knowledge. This Fuel Injection and Computer stuff is all new to me. Give me a SBC or BBC with a carb(s) and Dizzy and i am good to go, but this stuff i am finding since aquiring the C4 is beyond me and is making me rethink what have i gotten myself into........Great Forum/Great Site!!!

Welcome to the forum

As far as your '89 is concerned your in good hands. The engine is essentially the same as every SBC before it except it has a fuel injection manifold on top. If you have trouble with some of that stuff we've got plenty of knowledgeable people who are what I would consider experts.

Welcome, and let me be the first to say, the best thing you can buy for your new car is a Factory Service Manual (FSM). If your car is having a issue, post the symptoms and we will help you diagnosis the problem.

Seriuously, guys... you'll be fine. I've never done much of significance to an engine, but between the forum and service manual, I'm not afraid to jump in.

It's my daily drivers that make me throw my hands up and run to a mechanic for something as simple as a coolant change.

welcome guys, I am pretty new to this whole C4 world myself, and I have already gotten very educated by just checking in here and posting questions. This site has a LOT of knowledge on it. You've got nothing to worry about, except not having enough time to cruise!!

Demonic85,

Fell into it and always wanted one..........not perfect but very close. The guy worked for a division of GM so all the extras (wheels, clear top, CD) are OEM (and the orinal stuff came with the car). Also came with all manuals & a box of 'in the box' GM parts (hope I never need them). Here's a couple of shots of the inside:

JMO --I'd suggest buying the FSM and another book entitled " Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Management" by Charles O. Probst--I found out about it on this forum and bought a copy from Bentley Publishers online--well worth the $34.95. I 'm in the repair business for many years and I find it a great read. It's written in such a way that it's easy--even for someone who is a novice to fuel injection--to read and understand. As far as the CF goes it 's great and there are a lot of very very good "heads" here who can help you as problems pop up. WELCOME

Welcome to C4 world. This is the best place to come for help. There are some real geniuses here.

I found out about this site while searching for my own car 3 years ago. I had never driven one in my life. I learned enough to know what to look for when examining one. I found one and drove it back home the second time I set foot in it---at night and in the rain (the last time its been in the rain) from Lima, OH. What a ride that was. Not a single problem. Just heavy rain.

Every problem I have had, I was helped out by my new brothers on this forum. Thank you, guys.

Get the Helms Factory Service Manual. It's got everything about your car in it.
