OK! My engine builder wants the flywheel and pressure plate on the engine to balance...fine... Its gonna be a 383 with an externally balanced rear...and internally balanced front....that means we have a counterweight on the flywheel...and a neutral balancer. The front counterbalance gets weight...per SCAT..that said...
There are NO more new Dual Mass Flywheels being produced...Carolina Clutch...LUK....the partsladi...noboby has one...or can expect to get one...
So we're down to whose flywheel and clutch set up is the bestest..I will be pull'n down about 475-485 ftlbs of wonderful tire burn'n torque if my computer is about right...that means we need some clamp'n on the flywheel...
Look at SPEC and others...Carolina Clutch has a proprietary product...Valeo has a stock type..there is McLeod and Centerforce ( big $$$$)...price has to stay reasonable..where do YOU recommend I go.

It is bad that there aren't more options out there but I have had a lot of experience with SPEC. If you want to get as close to the dual mass sound and feel I would go with a steel flywheel and a sprung hub full face clutch plate. Just my .02
Here's another vote for the Spec, I have a Stage II+ in my 383, and I guess I'm lucky cause I have a Brand New Dual Mass flywheel sitting in the box. BUT, I chose to run a Single Mass Steel flywheel on my 96.
If you want to find a Dual Mass, just post a WTB: in the For Sale section and see what you come up with. The Single Mass rattles, but I don't mind it that much, and it's only when the car is in neutral with the peddle out.
i have heard good things about spec. if i get a 6 speed vette for my 383 project, i was thinking about their twin disc clutch. as per spec's website, it supposedly maintains near stock pedal feel, but holds between 700 - 900 lbs of torque... that sounds like a serious clutch...
