Does anyone have access to a digi cam and the GM shop manual describing the drain plug removal procedure? This is what the drain plug looks like and I have no clue how to take it off or if it is even possible. Id rather not have to buy a new radiator if I can fix this new one. Everyone has said that drain valve comes off and can be replaced, mine just free spins in both directions with no end in sight.
The plug leaks (bad). That's not the exact radiator, but the identical plug style. I dont have a digi cam so I found a pic someone in Parts for sale had and cropped it to show the plug. If I can just replace that plug and not have to spend money on a new radiator, that would save me $150-$200. If you know how to get that puppy off, please let me know.
Go buy a new one (Plug) look at it and you will see what you need to remove it. I can't acually recall how I removed mine, but I tink a large socket fits on it and just screws out. Take out the thumb screw first. Can't get a camera in there to take a pic.
Pull hard and rock it back and forth and it will pop out. There are tangs at the end of the drain plug to prevent it from falling out while draining. If you get a new one you will see what I mean.
I think it's fixed! Thanks to every one who kept insisting I was on crack....I'll know more when I let it run for more than 30 minutes. More updates when I drive it tomorrow.
