Had to replace the opti on my GS. Installed the new part and the vette would not start. Checked all the wires and the cam index, everything was good. Vette still acted like in was trying to fire out of order.
Well, time to check the new opti and noticed the rotor was installed incorrectly. Rotated the old opti to the #1 index and the rotor is at approx 7:00 the new one is at 9:00. Has anyone came across this before?
Thanks for the reply, if you take a opti and rotate the index mark to the #1 on the base the rotor will point to the #1 contact on the cap. The new opti I have the rotor is pointing to the #4 contact. The same applies to the #6 reference. After all of the opti's I have replaced in my cars/friends, this is a first.
Put the old opti back on and she fired right up. I guess this one could be put in the could it really happen The problem with the new opti is the rotor is not oriented with the indexed notch on the opti drive. Just something to check. Getting a new one shipped to me tomorrow, that is customer service...
later,
David

Received the replacement opti (ACCEL) this morning. The rotor is correctly oriented with #1 index mark on the base. I guess the moral of this story is, remove the cap and check the rotor orientation just to make sure, I never did till now..
