I had my transmission rebuilt and a few days later I heard come rattling under the hood. I found the part. The picture shows the part. It is underneth the part seen in the picture. It connects just under the Compressor and then goes under the manifold. I reconnected it to the pipe under the compressor but it is not connected to anything once it goes under the manifold. It doesn't seem to hurt anything but it does rattle sometimes.

Thanks

I see 2 check valves in your picture. The one on top is the check valve that allows exhaust gases to go from the exhaust manifold to the EGR system.

The lower check valve allows fresh air from the air pump to be sent to the catalytic convertor. The thin metal tube should go under the exhaust manifold and then back to the pasenger side of the convertor, where it attaches to a port in the side of the convertor.

On my 86', the connection at the convertor looks like this:

Chapindad,

The pipe going under the car which connects to the converter pumps air into the converter to clean up the exhaust. That pipe had to be removed in order to drop the transmission for rebuild. The entire exhaust aft of the manifolds has to be removed to drop the transmission. The shop did not reconnect it. I hope this helps.
