Hi-Speed Misfire
I put in a new set of AC Rapidfires in my 90 L98 over the weekend. I now am getting a misfire that starts about 4500 RPM. Idle and low to mid-range RPM are fine. Any ideas? FYI, I'm planning on replacing the distributor cab, coil and wires in the next week or so also.

the gap on the rapidfire is wierd. that could be causing it... make sure they were correctly gapped.
the other cause would be a bad coil... or a loose sparkplug wire(s).

with more gap you need better wires, cap, and most of all a better coil more so with the L98 than with the LT1's. the stock coil and wires are not very good over 4500rpm. the combustion pressures are so great that there is not enough voltage to jump the sparkplug gap and it will jump in a weak point in your ingnition system ie:from the wires to the headers is most common..

Thanks for the feedback. I'm using a set of Taylor 8mm wires but they're a couple of years old, as are the cap and coil. Sounds like I need to replace them all.
