Well I was thouroughly surprised last night while doing some prep work to install a line lock. First I will start by saying that I am not sure I really need one, I have no problems doing a burnout. I do like the concept though and it could help extend the rear brake life. Especially after I install my Doug Rippie biase spring. With that said I was told that the front resivior was for the rear brakes, this did not sound right to me. As I was inspecting I saw the large line in the rear and the small one in the front so I began to think, maybe they were right. So I got close and started tracing lines and to my surprise I discovered that the front brakes are fed by two lines from the master cylinder. Both are slightly smaller than the 1 larger one going to the rear brakes. So my $22 ebay lock seems like it either needs a brother or I will have a mess of plumbing to deal with. How have any of you overcome this ? Pictures would be great.
The early model MC have two ports for the front with a line off each as you have.
The later models only use one port. The casting for the port is on the MC but it is untapped.
Maybe plug one port , run line to line loc and then T the front lines from there?
Or get a single front port MC from a later car?
Yes that seems to be the only real option but it looks very busy, cumbersom and very leak prone. I was hoping for a clean simple install. Not sure about changing master cylinders either. That seems problematic as well. I may have to skip this option.
Original master, after I figured out what I needed and bought it, I probably had it done in 2 hours. I have dealt with a hell of alot higher pressure with hydraulics at work, so I am very confident in my work. Do you have a performance shop in your area? Get a quote from them to do it.
