Hotcam into a non roller block?
Can I use aftermarket rollers on the hotcam? My hydraulic cam is only going to work so well with my TPI and I'd like to upgrade to the hotcam at some time in the future, but I'm not about to modify my block to accept the stock type holder. Can I do this or do I have to go with a completely aftermarket roller cam & lifter setup?

sure. You'll need retro roller lifters a cam button and bearing. LPE sells all or you can just buy the Comp cams lifters. You'll need a roller style (later model) timing set, and that's is all there is to it. LPE's 219 cam is designed for a roller block, but many (including mayself) are using it in the older style blocks. I don't see why the hot cam would be any different.

The Hot Cam is setup for Hydraulic Roller lifters. The factory style lifters need to be retained somehow. I believe there are other types of hydraulic rollers that you can use to retrofit a non roller, but I think it requires some modifications to the block. I'm not sure though.

Right now, my 383 is an 84 non-roller block. I had Comp Cams custom grind me an old style roller tailored to my combo. Its very similar to the LPE 219. I am using the Comp Cam Magnum rollers and the Comp roller lifters. They are on backorder everywhere for some reason.
