Default Front Spoiler clearance?

Mine is 2-7/8" from the bottom of the spoiler to the ground

Anybody else's spoiler this low? No wonder I drag so much ..

My front fender is 25-3/4 to the wheel well

My rear fender is 26-3/4 to the wheel well

Mine isn't that low, but I thought there was a z51 front spoiler version that was larger than stock.

Mseven is right, the Z51 equipped cars have a bigger front spoiler. Check you option sticker and maybe you'll see option Z51.

I have the Z51 option on my 85, but forget what the spoiler measures.

I have the Prowler spoiler,, this pic was before my coil over mod.

Maybe I should get the shorter stock spoiler

The center piece of the spoiler measures 2 1/2" from the 90* to leading edge line. The outside spoiler sections measure 3 1/2" (approx.) from the bumper cover to the bottom edge line. Can't tell you ground clearance ....as usual it's up in the air

I just measured my spoiler and it's the same as what mseven measured his at. I know these are the Z-51 equipped cars spoilers. I had to buy the middle section 5 years ago when I got my 85 as it was missing.

The base (non Z-51) factory installed front spoiler is shorter in height. I read in parts catalogs the heights of both 5 years ago as I was choosing which middle section I needed. But of course I forgot what the base spoiler measurment is. Again, I know it's not as tall as the Z-51s spoiler. Your car looks to be sitting lower to the ground than my 85. My suspension is factory stock, stock 85 wheels and I have the 255 x 50 x 16 stock size tires on it. Hope this helps. I would think you would want the base factory spoiler, not the Z-51.

I might have to buy the shorter spoiler non Z51 , due to the lowered coilover height,

its no fun going over speed bumps etc, I am always paranoid about ripping the Prowler spoiler off.

I love the Prowler, but less than 3" is just too low.

Yeah, I love that spoiler but mine only lasted from VA to KY and halfway back on my lowered car. It scraped over nearly every bump in the road and when I pulled off for lunch on the way back it was falling apart.
"Zelement" must not drive his car much...

I run the Midamerica version with brake cooling ducts and it barely scrapes now.

Really, it wasn't too bad until I lowered the car.

At 25-3/4" fender height in the front, I could go lower if I like, but the Spoiler clearance prevents that.

I never realized how low mine was until today. I think it is stock (86 coupe-early, not Z51); but where I parked today I backed into a spot and walking away, the car was kind of 'above' me on a hill and I could see under the front of the car. My spoiler is a mess! The center section looks pretty jayed up and the right side looks like it is crooked. It scrapes pulling into my drive and into the lot at work. I think I will look into the aftermarket skid plates when I replace it and get the car painted.

How much? Are those brake cooling ducts I see built in?

I have a '90 Z51 that sits pretty low. I have had to re pop rivet the ducting twice in the last 3 months.

A little OT (sorry LD):
Kubs do you have specific pics of how you routed the duct work from the spoiler to the wheel well and how you attached them in the wheel well? I don't know if it's a brain fart but I can't seem to get them pointing at the brake rotor and not interfering with the wheel when turned.

Back on topic:
The main prob with Prowler is that the center is lower than the sides as you can see in the pic of Larry's car. If it was straight across, it would be perfect and just fine for lowered cars.

I dont have pictures but I can tell you what I did. I routed the hose along the lower control arm all the way up to the rotor and yes mine interfered too with the wheel. I cut it back to about where the LCA bolts to the frame (if you turn the wheel full lock the hose just clears the tire). So the air is just blowing in the general direction and helps a bit but not good enough. I am trying to figure out a way to also route a hose from under the parking lights to go along the upper control arm right to the rotor. I dont know how well that will work seeing the coolant overflow tank is right there, but thats my delema.

No problem about the OT

Yes they are brake cooling ducts.

Do you like the spoiler with the brake ducts? Does it blow dust back onto the front of the rim and keep them dirty? Just curious. Thanks.

Yeah, I'll take some measurements tonight if no one else gets to it first. I think our cars probably sit about the same height too so I'll try to get a clearance measurement.

I haven't installed the ductwork yet so I don't know :o I can't find a good way to route it and I think it has more to do with the tubing provided by midamerica than anything else. It doesn't like tight radius turns.
