Is this normal
I have a 95 auto and it cruises at 80mph right around 2000rpm. That seems a little low to me. Anybody?

Re: Is this normal (95DropTop)
You've just got the taller gear set, 2.73 to 1 if I'm not mistaken for that year in convertible. Scorp know's, he'll probably chime in later today.
You've also got the 4L60E which has an over drive of 0.70, and the lock-up converter decreases the cruising rpms by 300-500 rpms.
All this stuff put together gets you a really low cruising rev.

I would bet 2.59's since mine does 70 @ 2000rpm.

Re: Is this normal (BobMachus)
Now that I think about it, I turn 1800 rpms at 65 mph, so at 80, that should be around 2000-2100, although I've never thought to check.
I have a 2.59 rear gear.

With my 6 speed and 3.45's, at 2000 I'm doing around 80, at 2500 I'm close to 100

Yes, it is completely normal. This is one reason why late model Corvettes get nearly 30 Mpg on the highway.
