Water pump opportunities

See the temp sensor ? There used to be just a boss at that location. I never was very fond of bosses, so I drilled it 9/16 and then tapped it 3/8 NPT.
I can just put a plug in it if I want. Or I could put a temp sensor there for a fan switch without having to pull a plug from the side of a cyl. head.
Or, I could put in a little cockvalve with a hose attachment that would enable me to spill-less-ly drain enough coolant to service the thermostat, at will, without having to open the drain on the bottom of the radiator and cause a coolant splish-splash party.
But, what I'm really going to do, is thread a little magnesium rod in it, to act as a sacrificial anode to prevent corrosion elsewhere, like at the cyl/head to block interface.
