What are some suggestions for long tube headers. I'm looking for something that is easy to install, lightweight, easy to access spark plugs and under $500 with no EGR.
I currently have a set of LPE LT's with all the air stuff blocked off but they are heavy, big thick flange and getting to the spark plugs is a PITA that requires going from top and bottom to get them in or out. Also, I have to loosen these to get the starter in or out.
Never heard of Kooks. Any more info on them? Anyone here use them? I'm debating having mine coated and being done with it but the idea of having to jack the car to access the plugs isn't too inviting. Also, the flanges are so thick standard header bolts are kinda short.
Summit has about any length header bolt you want in stainless steel or iron. They aren't really bolts any more. More like studs you screw into the head and then put a nut on it. I guess you can still get bolts if that is what you prefer. You can also get locking washers. You want that flange as thick as yo can get it. 3/8" is good. I'm in the process of installing Stainless Works headers on my '96.
Do a search on my post and you will find a Poll I started about a month ago. It has some good opinions on headers. You may get some useful info out of it.
