when I've done them in my trans am I just take the motor to about 3,000rpm pop the clutch then immediately press on the brake pedal and this stops the front wheels but the torque is able to overcome the rear brake and then you just stay on it and it will torch them long time or until something blows.

I think the correct way in a line lock for the front brakes.

If you're using street tires a burnout isn't needed. Just a quick spin to clean them off. Hot street tires stick less than a warm clean tire.

If you have drag radials/ slicks, these need to be hot and sticky for maximum grip.

I usually do a heel-toe / side step burnout.

Get your foot between the gas and brake where you can press both equally. Rev the engine with the right side of your (R) foot, Release clutch quickly and apply pressure to the brake with the left side of your foot while keeping the revs up. 2-3 seconds is all your really need. But i've been know to lay down a few smokies for 10-15 seconds. adds to the factor but it isn't needed.

It will take practice to get it down. The standard method works but you just have to use two feet. One on brake, one on gas. I always brake to hard with my left foot so i learned it this way.

Hope this helps!
