Default no where fast

Two weeks ago I spent 500 dollars + on my 95 coupe draining and flushing all liquids, had drive belt replaced etc. Vette ran fine until this morning I noticed something was wrong when I pulled out of the driveway. The car acted like it was going no where fast rpm around 3,000 going 12 miles an hour. Finally it seemed like it was going into another gear and took off, got up to about 30 then went back into its fast nothing mode. I got about two miles and turned around and went home, when I got out of the car it smelled like burning rubber. I know know if the brakes where locking up or the drivebelt is slipping. I've never used the emergency brake. I did have another car that required using the emergency brake everytime you parked it to reset the brakesiI didn't think I had to do that with this car. Is it the brakes, Transmission, drivebelt, etc?
Thanks for any imput.

Auto or stick? No training is required for the E brake that I know of on any car. If it's an auto, sounds like a burned clutch pack. Probably 3-4. That happend to mine. I don't know transmissions that well so you better talk to someone more knowledgable. Im just throwing out an idea. Any codes, leaks, jerks, or anything beneficial to the problem solving that is out of wack besides the problem itself?

I take it you had the transmission flushed? I would guess you don't have fluid somewhere you need fluid, check your tranny level. Brakes are easy to test, put the car in neutral on flat ground and give it a push. Transmission pixies get upset when you mess with them.

Sounds like it may be low on tranny fluid (check the dipstick) --if you had it flushed--may not have been checked when flush was complete or the cooler line may have been left loose causing a leak over time. A slipping belt could create your smell-- but not the 3000rpm and 12 mph scenario. If the brakes were locking up-- that should be apparent because once you get off the gas the car would stop quickly on its own without you manually applying the brakes. JMO

Having someone else do the work on your car is a bad idea ,especially something as easy as fluids. Who knows what they did, maybe didn't put enough trans fluid in. There are some dummys out there who don't know what there doing,,Trust me on this....WW

My money is on brakes. I don't see where you would get the burning odor from a slipping automatic transmission.

Seriouslly? I would think you definatley smell it. And as mentioned if it were brakes holding him back THAT bad, he would be stopping hard when he let off the gas. He would know....
I still think the tranny is low on fluid or smoked...
Do we even know if its an auto or manual?

Thanks for all the input. It was the 3-4 clutch and its fixed runs nice. now to get the antenna replaced. The front wheels do run a little warm after a drive but the brakes aren't dragging. Don't need anymore problems. Again thanks

Glad you got her fixed!

Don't know what year yours is, but my 95 needed an antenna when I bought it. Picked one up at the dealer and it comes with the tool to remove and install the new one. My old one would not go down all the way and it looked like it had been bent at one time and someone tried to straighten it. It was a 5 minute job and super easy!

Thepartsladi on ebay has the Corvette Power Antenna Mast Repair Kit for $27.00 , if the motor on your antenna is still running this is what you need . They also have complete antennas for a little over $100,00 if the motor on your unit is bad. Both are easy jobs, took me 1/2 hour to do mine....WW
