I've noticed some steam from under the waterpump, and an increase in liquid under the front of the engine. So I'm planning some maintenance work on the engine (90k), intake gaskets/silicon, waterpump, knock sensors, optispark, timing chain, and figure it would be an opportune time for the LT4 HotCam. I'm pretty comfortable with the pump, opti replacement, & intake work, but I've never done a cam or timing chain. What is involved with cam change, do I need to adjust/change out any valve components (I was under the assumption that the hotcam could be swapped in and work with the LT4 valve train). I do have a Helm's Manual if there is specific section on this, or if anyone has documented this procedure. Thanks.
TDOCK, I'm in going to be doing the same thing to my 93 when it warms up. I've been quoted between $700- 1000 for the work, therefore that is my incentive to do it my self. I also have the LT4 heads and intake but I'll wait to do them next fall. I'll stay in touch.

Re: LT4 Hotcam with LT4 Engine (tdock)
The HOT Cam should slip right in without any modifications to the stock LT4 valve train. Of course, you will have to remove the intake and remove the lifters. Assuming you used Mobile 1, they should come right out. You may remove the radiator assembly and lift the engine a couple of inches to clear the cross member.
While you have the engine lifted it would be a great time to do plugs/wires, it will be much easier with the engine lifted. Trust me on this one, nathan will vouch for me, that is how we did his and it was much easier. As far as the cam sliding in, i'm not sure if the springs on your heads will be good enough for the new lift. Might be something to investagate.
Shouldn't be hard. you will have to take the intake off, remove the rockers and push rods, take the lifters out, then pull your old cam out .... slide the new one in, and put it back on in reverse. Not that bad.
DEFINITELY do your wires and plugs while you've got it apart!
The springs you have are probably weak, but in stock form they are able to take the LT4 HOT cam without any problems. I'm running the HOT cam with LT4 springs and they work fine.
