I didn't even remove mine to gut it. I backed it up onto ramps and removed the rear y-pipe and mufflers. Then I got a long chisel and a hammer and started breaking up the honeycomb material inside cat with it still on the car. I used a shop vac to clean up the particles as I broke them up and started the car once and awhile to really blow the stuff out. It took about an hour, maybe longer since the bolts on the rear of the cat were really rusted. Just be careful as the dust from the cat is really toxic. Might be a good idea to wear one of theose dust masks. Hope this helps.
