Had my car dynoed two weeks ago with a wide band. 252 rwhp 344rwt but was way rich, in the mid 11's to 12 at the upper rpm range. Dropped the fuel pressure down from 45lb to 43lb, made the best run but the air to fuel graph changed very little, looked as if it didn't respond. Now with the stage ll chip will the car react to a fuel pressure change more or about the same as the stock chip. The stage ll on my scanner showed that the timing was increased, the fan came on earlier, and the voltage dropped a few from the stock chip, haven't dynoed again yet. Just wondering if the fuel adjustment now will have a big affect.
I wonder if I am not phrasing this question right or something. More than 30 people looked but no one replied. Just wondering or noboby knows the answer.
Hi Toeman. I guess we are neighbors. Too bad an "expert" hasn't answered you. I am certainly not one, nor do I play one on TV.
I do have an uninformed opinion. Once Ed works on your computer, you have no idea what is going on and he owns you. He locks the code so nobody can read it and he won't tell you what he has done.
You have two choices. Continue with ED or another tuner - send scans, dyno sheets and money. Or, see if you can get back to stock and start programming.
I believe Ed will eventually get pretty close. I think you could too with a little help from the guys on this forum.
Good luck
Oops, Just realized you had a canned chip. I don't know if he locks those chips. He does lock the PCM's. I hear there is not a lot of changes in those chips.
Toeman for what it's worth my 91 run's on the rich side to, bone stock chip, fuel presure at 42lbs . now when I say rich i'am going by my barly pasing the polution test reading's. what scaner are you using as I need to pick one up.
I also purchased a chip from Ed Wright for over $400.00. After running his chip for a very short time I had problems. Not having a whole lot of spare time on my hands I thought that was my quickest way to get my L383 running its best. Wrong answer! Headache after headache! I gave up with the chip and purchased tunercat, pocket programmer, diacom plus, and rom emulator. It took awhile to get up to speed understanding the different tables how they intereact with each other but it's paying off now. I love running my car with my laptop and seeing how all the changes I make work (or don't work together).
My advice...pair up with someone in your area and have them help you build a chip worthy of all your hard work. You'll be glad you did. Trust me:)
